ENTERTAINMENT COMMITTEE
Thank you to the Schmidt’s for donating this year’s live Christmas tree in the Hall.
Thank you to everyone who helped with the German Christmas Show, The Children’s Christmas Party and Tannenbaum Nacht.
New Year’s Eve Ball – Saturday, December 31st
Tickets for our New Years Eve Party will cost $45 per member and $50 per guest. Dinner will be prepared by our Ladies group. The menu includes Kasseler Rippchen (smoked pork chops), Roast Beef, Sauerkraut, Coleslaw, Roasted Potatoes, Green Beans, with Sweets and Sandwiches at midnight. Also included are Beer, Wine, Mixed Drinks and Soda. Doors open at 7:00. Dinner starts at 7:30. Dancing is from 8:30 to 12:30. Music provided by Albert Messmann and Family, from Germany. Tickets will be sold in the bar every Wednesday until Dec 20th.
Inaugural Ball – Saturday, January 13th 2007
No tickets are required for the Inaugural Ball since this is our January general meeting. After the meeting The Windjammers will play until 11:30.
Fasching – Saturday, February 17th 2007
Fasching is our Masked Ball which will be held on the last Saturday before lent. The Jacob Titz Orchestra will play. Prizes will be awarded to the best costumes. More info next month.
BAUERNSTUBE
Food will be served on selected Friday’s from 6:00 – 9:00pm in the Bauernstube.

GERMAN GENEALOGY GROUP
The Genealogy Group will not meet in December. The next meeting will be on Monday, Jan 29th at 7:30 in the Deutsche Halle. As one way of studying the social history of our ancestors we will have the privilege of hearing about daily life in Europe from two of our club leaders who grew to adulthood in Europe before immigrating to America. All members are invited to attend this meeting. The program will be repeated the last Monday of February with two more speakers. They will be:

New in the Library/Video Library
The acclaimed 15 ½ hour saga made for German TV in 1984 tells the story of the village of Schabbach/ Hunsrück from 1919 to 1982 through events in the lives of the Simon family. German language with English subtitles. To sign out the DVD set, please contact the Culture Committee.
· Das Echolot: Abgesang ‘45

In the last twenty years novelist Walter Kempowski compiled an intimate portrait of World War II in the form of a collective diary. The project is known as Das Echolot (The Sounding). It comprises four volumes, Barbarossa ‘41, Das Echolot, Fuga furiosa, and Abgesang ‘45. The Delaware Saengerbund has volume four Abgesang ‘45 in the Library, and will acquire the other three volumes as they become available (German language only). PROPERTY COMMITTEE
Property Committee action items include (1) building security, (2) mechanical and plumbing systems inspection/maintenance, (3) south athletic field soil and drainage remediation, (4) main roof replacement, (5) parking lot snow removal, and (6) fence repair.
Members are reminded daily building access shall be via Bauernstube and rear corridor keylock doors (southwest side) only. Hall access via front double doors is restricted to scheduled DSB events under the authority of our 1st Vice President (House Committee). Also, everyone should please be aware that disposal of personal yard waste in the DSB dumpster is not allowed and violates the DSB trash removal contract.
COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE
