This fascinating story is of Interest to Delaware Saengerbund members, genealogists, historians, sociologists, and anyone with a German background. THE SAENGERBUND presents a colorful history of the oldest German singing society in Delaware. The pages span the time from the first meetings in 1853 in Wilmington to the 150th Anniversary celebration in Ogletown in 2003, tracing the changes from a German-speaking choral society to today's multifaceted German American organization. Information is gleaned not only about concerts, programs, picnics and outings, but also about the difficult challenges the members and officers had to face throughout the years as revealed in the Saengerbund minutes. The book, augmented and illustrated by other sources, answers many questions about the society and provides the reader with insight into a rarely told story. The book is available for $30.
